Enough and affordable computational resources: when 7 years ago we needed a supercomputer for certain calculations, we now have enough power in the cloud thanks to players like Amazon and Microsoft.
Open algorithms
We now have easy access to algorithms that are offered as some kind of open tools. You no longer have to be a data scientist to write a basic program based on a neural network thanks to Apache or the Google TensorFlow Library.
A whole lotta data
We now have masses of data available – and deep learning needs A LOT of data to be fed – thanks to the web, the Internet of Things and open data initiatives.
Data rock stars
And last but not least, there is an increased number in data scientists out there that have the creativity and the knowledge to know which features and algorithms to use.
