Aleph × China: Decoding the Future of Commerce
-p-500.jpg)
Aleph came to China with one mission: understand how the world's most advanced digital ecosystem actually works — and what it means for their own Day After Tomorrow. As a global advertising and payments powerhouse present in 130+ markets, the leadership team needed first-hand insight into how Chinese tech giants scale at breathtaking speed, and how they're reshaping global business models in payments, commerce and AI.

We co-designed a tailor-made learning expedition across Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai — three cities that together map China's digital economy from infrastructure to frontier.
Guided by Pascal Coppens, one of the world's leading experts on Chinese innovation, the program brought Aleph's leaders face-to-face with the companies actually building the future — not reading about them, but sitting across the table from them.
A five-day, three-city journey structured around three defining themes: Understanding the China Code, Meeting the Digital Powerhouses, and Turning Insight into Impact. The itinerary blended billion-user platforms with bold disruptors, and translated each session into direct implications for Aleph's business.
Some highlights:
- Ocean Engine (ByteDance) — how Douyin became a closed-loop discovery and conversion engine where the algorithm rewards business outcomes, not just attention.
- JD.com — 700 million users, $187B in 2025 revenue, and a vertically integrated empire quietly exporting fintech infrastructure into emerging markets.
- Plus sessions with Alibaba, Unitree, iQIYI, Bluefocus, VML Asia, EY China and a dinner at the Argentine Embassy in Beijing.
